Melbourne Storm 2022 Mens Indigenous Jersey Now Available for Purchase
Melbourne Storm is proud and happy to present the 2022 Indigenous Jersey. Coree Thpe designed the jersey. Coree is both a Yorta Yorta Gunnai Gunditjmara Wurundjeri person and an artist. Coree has used Rainbow Serpents in his creation. Coree is a long-standing Storm Supporter and has strengthened his relationship towards Melbourne with Dardi Munwurro’s Community Development and Leadership roles. Dardi Munwurro is an Indigenous organisation and has a strong partnership. Storm is a family that includes members, coaches and staff. The design of the 2022 Jersey is a link. Coree used Storm’s familiar story, The Rainbow Serpent, in order to draw a connection with NRL’s first 24 year journey. The story is strongly connected with Storm’s journey to Australia’s East Coast and serves as an emblem of how regeneration will take place for each new season. Storm’s active years within NRL can be seen in the lines of the jersey. They are coloured in orange and yellow. The orange lines indicate years when the club was a Grand Finals winner. The purple lines symbolize the ribs. The artwork has two sides that are decorated with diamonds. This is to show the men-women who came together to create Melbourne Storm. Each year is like one big snake. It’s the shedding. Coree shared, “It is more powerful, it teaches it heals it, and it changes.” “You need to understand where your origins are in order to understand where you should go. Storm does this very well.
